This has been a crazy week. One friend had her first of several surgeries as she battles breast cancer. Another is enduring the loss of a beloved pet at the same time her marriage appears to be coming to an end. I know that sometimes they feel like they're going through this alone, and we all wish we were closer together. I still remember feeling very alone after the loss of my father and subsequent collapse of a relationship with a man I thought I was going to marry, mostly because I lived so far away from most of my friends. I wish I'd known then what Christopher Robin knew, that I was braver than I believed, stronger than I seemed and smarter than I thought.
I reminded my friends of what Christopher Robin said to Pooh: "But the most important thing is even if we're apart, I'll always be with you."
Time or distance may separate you from your friends, but they're always with you in your heart.
